When I tried the first version of Windows Movie Maker I wasn't that impressed. However, with the release of Windows Movie Maker 2 I am now a lot more enthusiastic about the product. This is Microsoft's second release of the popular video editing package that is still being offered for the incredible price of nothing. That's right it's totally FREE!
Upon completion of the installation I decided to check out some of the transitions and effects. There are the standard set of transitions but many will be surprised to see a few more advanced transitions.
Another aspect of this software that caused me to sit up and take notice was the special effects features such as the old movie effect.
The titles are spectacular. You can easily change the title animations. Some of the types of animations that you can do is: News Video Inset, Spin In/Out, Ticker Tape, Stretch (one of my favorites), Transparent Overlapping Titles, and many others. One that I really like and used on a recent project was where the credits scroll up on the right with the video squeezed on the left. This looks very professional and is a great effect if used right.
